It’s been confirmed earlier today by the club that two of the most long-serving players at Blues are set to leave in June.

Those players are Jonathan Grounds and Jacques Maghoma after both have 350 combined appearances for the club during their six-year tenures.

Maghoma first put on a royal blue shirt back in the summer of 2015 under Gary Rowett as he signed on a free transfer from Sheffield Wednesday.

Making 180 appearances for Blues and netted 21 goals, the Congolese international has been a commendable servant during tough times at the club under numerous managers.

It’s probably the right time for Mags to depart, with Jeremie Bela as the current first-choice winger.

Longest-serving Blues player, Grounds, came to Blues on a free transfer, from Oldham Athletic, under Lee Clark in the summer of 2014 and spent the 2018/19 season on loan to Bolton Wanderers.

The 32-year-old has since been featuring for the U23’s and failed to make an appearance as he was down in the pecking order under Kristian Pedersen.

Racking up 170 appearances for Blues, he’s scored five times for the club.

We wish both players every success in the future and we join many Blues fans in thanking them for all their hard work under some very harsh circumstances.
