Versatile left winger Ivan Sanchez is poised to be the first player signed under the Aitor Karanka era, according to BBC WM sports host Richard Wilford.

The radio presenter announced the free transfer on Twitter earlier today.

Little is known of the player, but noticeably he has spent three years with the Atletico Madrid B team where he scored 7 times in 84 appearances.

Spaniard Sanchez, who can operate up front or in deeper roles such as the centre/left midfield, primarily plays as a winger but has played in a variety of positions when needed for Elche FC. The Segunda division team are currently in the play-offs playing Zaragoza as they aim to be promoted to the LaLiga.

The 27-year-old has provided three assists and scored once to help his side reach the play-offs.

As a left footer, he primarily plays as a left winger but has been known to drop deep and play centrally if required. This adaptability makes the Spanish playmaker a healthy addition to the squad.

With the departure of Jefferson Montero, the arrival of Sanchez will now bring some much needed competition in the midfield department, where attacking midfielders have been hard to come by for the club.
