Aitor Karanka has confirmed Blues are on the verge of signing Cardiff City goalkeeper Neil Etheridge.

The Blues boss is fairly confident the club can pull off what he says is the ‘perfect transfer’.

Etheridge has been out of favour of the Bluesbirds’ starting lineup, with Alex Smithies the preferred man between the sticks last term.

Here’s what Karanka told the press about him today:

“I don’t know how close we are,” Karanka said. “He is a player who is on our list but the club is doing a very good job, the relationship I have with the CEO is really good.

“If he arrives it will be perfect, if he doesn’t another one will arrive and will be the right one and a player we wanted.

“He has experience, promotion experience, which is important as well with players like [Adam] Clayton and George [Friend] they know how nice it is to get promoted.”

“Let’s see what happens.”

As the saga continues, many Blues fans will welcome this news after the link being in fruition for a number of weeks now.
