Blues are understood to be interested in bringing Manchester City academy graduate Wato Kuate to St Andrews.

The midfielder is now a free agent after leaving Finish side RoPS.

According to TeamTalk, Blues are battling it out for the 25-year-old’s signature with fellow Championship clubs QPR, Sheffield Wednesday and Nottingham Forest.

Kuate has played in several countries such as Italy, Israel and Turkey but is looking for a move back to England.

He also had an eventful spell with Dundee United in Scotland as a 21-year-old, where he was told he would never play for the club again after a bust up with the club captain and manager.

“They didn’t treat me like everybody else. I don’t know why. My feeling is they let me down and tricked me. I was treated unfairly,” he told the Scottish Sun at the time.

“When I came here the manager told me he needed me as they didn’t have that kind of player in midfield.

“I said I was OK with that arrangement, but by the end I realised they had let me down. The gaffer let me down.

“I feel I got the blame for everything. Every time something was going wrong on the pitch it was always ‘Wato, Wato, Wato.’ That is crazy.

“Not everyone can love you and applaud what you are doing. There are always people who try to knock you down, but I am prepared for that.

This link will come to a surprise for Blues fans as Karanka has already brought in a lot of options in midfield this Transfer Window.
