A boxing day draw for Blues at the City Ground, we pick out the star player in an uninspiring all-midlands clash.
GK: Neil Etheridge 8 (MOTM)
The Blues Focus Man of the match for today’s game. His saves kept Blues level and earned us the point, especially the reaction save to deny Ryan Yates.
RB: Maxime Colin 6
Colin played a big part in keeping Forest at bay. He was certainly better in the first half and his decision making was not quite there late on in the game, but overall not a bad outing for the French Fullback.
CB: Harlee Dean 6.5 (C)
Dean did a great job keeping Forest away from goal, especially as he was next to Roberts who didn’t play particularly well. He nullified the threat of a fresh Lyle Taylor which certainly takes some doing.
CB: Marc Roberts 5
Roberts has had a lot of doubters this season and his performance in the East Midlands won’t have done anything to change that. He carelessly hoofed the ball upfield everytime it fell to him and it very rarely ended up at the feet of a Blues player.
It definitely didn’t help that he played the last 30 minutes limping leaving both the fans and commentators confusion as to why he wasn’t brought off.
LB: George Friend 6.5
It was the type of game you’d expect from someone coming back from injury. It certainly wasn’t Friend’s best shift in a Blues shirt but he was equally far from bad and will 100% improve as he gets more minutes.
CDM: Adam Clayton 5.5
Clayton has shown real quality on very few occasions this season and today wasn’t one of them. He didn’t do that much and will be lucky to make the highlights but he did the dirty parts of the game relatively well.
CDM: Ivan Sunjic 5.5
It was one of the Croat’s worse performances this season. He quite literally did nothing but constantly give away stupid fouls.
CAM: Alen Halolivic 7
I’m sure his half time substitution left a fair amount of Blues fans puzzled (including myself.) He was the brightest player going forward and it looked as though if we were going to score it would come through him.
RW: Ivan Sanchez 7.5
The other Bright spark for Blues. Throughout the whole game he was making runs, winning the ball back and all round making it difficult for Forest. The best outfield player for me.
LW: Jeremie Bela 6
Not Bela’s best outing this season. He was defended very well by the Forest backline and it was hard for him to pull out his usual trickery.
ST: Scott Hogan 6.5
Hogan seemed to get better as the game went on. He looked scrappy and lost early on but by the end of the game the striker was battling for every ball and holding it up excellently.
Gary Gardner 7 – Gards was very good when he came on and will be starting to wonder what he has to do to start.
Lukas Jutkiewicz N/A
