An abysmal thrashing at the hands of Wayne Rooney’s Derby County sees Blues start to ask a lot of questions: is Karanka the right man?; Do the players care?

It’s my job to decide who the best player was out of a pretty dire bunch tonight.

GK Etheridge 4.5

His huge error started the Rams’ scoring spree and Blues never recovered. In fairness, he can’t be massively blamed for the rest of the goals but you can’t expect a high rating if you concede 4 goals.

RB Maxime Colin 4.5

A really poor performance from Max. Jozwiak and Sibley had the beating of him all game and he never found a way to handle them.

CB Harlee Dean (C) 4

A shocking performance from the Skipper. His penalty was incredibly clumsy and there was simply no need to give it away. He looked error prone throughout the game.

CB George Friend 4.5

Friend, like the entire defence was very error prone for the whole 90 minutes and didn’t live up to anywhere near the standards of his recent performances.

LB Kristian Pedersen 5.5

Unlike the majority of this season, Peds appeared to be the best defender for Blues. However, that wasn’t exactly a hard thing to accomplish.

CDM Adam Clayton 5

Clayton severely lacked quality in this game but he was also one of the few players that seemed to care somewhat about the game.

CDM Ivan Sunjic 4

Sunjic had no quality whatsoever this evening. I can’t remember a single tackle or impressive pass and he was rightfully subbed off at half time.

CAM Ivan Sanchez 6

The only player for Blues that looked like he could make something happen and create a goalscoring opportunity. Sadly, the rest of the team weren’t anywhere near his level and he was deemed ineffective

RW Gary Gardner 4.5

Bluenoses had high hopes for Gards coming into this one but he definitely didn’t live up to it. He lacked fluidity going forward and didn’t seem on the same page with the attackers.

LW Jeremie Bela 4.5

An incredibly lacklustre shift from the French winger. He had little to no effect on the match and never looked like troubling the Derby defence.

ST Scott Hogan 4

Birmingham’s forward had effectively zero chances in this one. He was massively let down by the players behind him and that’s why he’s so low.

Jutkiewicz 5: Like Hogan before him, Juke was left without any support or balls to work with.

Leko 5: Looked slightly brighter than Bela but still created no issues for Derby.

San Jose 6: Made a sizeable improvement defensively when he came on and put in a few nice passes.

Clarke-Salter 5.5: Salter looked more comfortable at left back then previously but he still struggled.

Kieftenbeld 4.5
