Standing at 6 foot 4, Basey has seen regular action in the Under-18s Premier League for Sunderland since 2019. However, after keeping a clean sheet representing Blues in their 2-0 PDL Final performance win under Steve Spooner, Basey has penned a first year professional contract with Blues.
Following the departure of Andres Prieto, it seems Blues are looking to bolster their U23s side with a quality shot stopper. With Zach Jeacock’s contract extension, it is likely that a loan for him would mean good game time for Basey.
The young keeper seemed keen to make an impact, in his first interview he said:
“It’s the first pro opportunity I’ve had and it’s a dream come true.
Birmingham City is a big Club that has definitely got lots of potential across all age groups.
I knew the lads from spending time here at the tail-end of last season and I knew the place had a presence about it.
I can’t wait to get going.”
