Charlton Athletic are set to re-sign Blues striker Chucks Aneke for a fee believed to be around £300,000, according to Sky Sports.

The 28-year-old departed The Valley last summer when his contract ran out before Lee Bowyer signed him for a second time after bringing him to Charlton from MK Dons back in 2019.

Aneke has featured 18 times for Blues so far this season, but the 28-year-old has only started one game.

The ex-Arsenal man has scored twice this campaign, once against Luton at the start of the season and more recently against QPR after coming off the bench.

Current Charlton manager Johnnie Jackson is a keen admirer of Chucks after coaching him during his two-year spell at the club where he scored 15 goals in 38 games for them during the 2020-21 season before his switch to the Midlands.

This news could mean a striker is incoming, but if Chucks does depart, this is very smart business from Gardner and co, managing to turn over a substantial profit in just over six months.
