Blues are keen on signing Barnsley defender Liam Kitching before the January transfer window shuts, according to The Mirror.
Printed in today’s paper version of the newspaper (page 65, 16 January), West Brom are also interested in the 22-year-old.
However, the Tykes appear set to resist any offers as they fight desperately against relegation to League One.
Kitching joined The Tykes in last year’s January transfer window from Forest Green Rovers. Since then, he has made 17 appearances for the Reds.
The former Leeds United centre back is likely to be a replacement for Harlee Dean, who has been told he can leave the club this month.
Blues seem to be operating on a ‘one-in-one-out’ transfer policy so for this move to materialise, a departure will be expected.
