Blues in talks to appoint Mark Warburton as manager
Blues are in talks to appoint former QPR manager Mark Warburton as the new boss, according to Football Insider.
This news follows talk of Lee Bowyer on the brink of being sacked as Birmingham manager now the season is over.
Warbuton ended his three year stint at the London club with a 1-0 victory over Swansea on Saturday.
It was announced on 28th April that he would be leaving the club but he stayed to take charge for the remaining two fixtures.
QPR ended their season comfortably in mid-table in 11th place. However, their form dipped after being playoff contenders early on in the campaign.
Lee Bowyer still has one year of his contract left and if the Blues board do pull the trigger a lump sum of £750,000 would have to be paid in compensation, according to The Sun.
With a takeover of the club imminent it remains to be seen when the club will appoint Warburton as manager at St Andrews.

What l cannot understand is how and why the current board would would appoint a Manager if they are selling the Club and the new board may not want Warburton,it just does not make sense.
Maybe new owners choice of manager sure there must be some dialogue
Can’t see this happening at all.Why would the Chinese appoint a new manager while they are trying to sell !!
Yes agree with the comments above. It could very well be they have no intention to sell fully.
What people have to realise is our current owners haven’t released any statements to say they are actually selling the club and as yet there’s been no announcement to the HKSE. Most of what we’ve been reading is all media crap. The Maxi Lopez consortium are initially planning to buy around 23% of the shares with the rest of the shares in around 6 months time. Because there are so many people involved in Blues it’s a very complicated situation but until there’s anything from HKSE there’s nothing doing.
The most worrying scenario is the possibility of David Sullivan funding Laurence Bassini. Has anyone looked at Mr. Bassini’s track record in business? Less than impressive. Imaginje if this happened and Mr. Bassini defaulted on the loan, which is highly likely, DS would then own a totally wrecked business – what do you think he would do with it? Sell the assets and recoupd his money before closing it down? Maybe? NIGHTMARE!!!
If bassini defaulted then Sullivan would be the owner of the club.
