Blues are reportedly looking to make a January move for left-back Brandon Ormonde-Ottewill.
The former Arsenal defender is currently playing his football in Hungary for top-flight side Puskas Akademia FC.
Since joining the club in late 2022, his stand-out performances have attracted interest from all over the world with several MLS clubs also reportedly interested.
Having captained the Arsenal Under-18s at youth level, the English defender has the pedigree required to be a good fit at St Andrew’s.
The 27-year-old is entering the final six months of his current contract so Blues must act quickly if they want to get the deal wrapped up.
Ormonde-Ottewill has spent the majority of his career away from England, mostly in the Netherlands, following a move to Swindon Town in 2017.
Wayne Rooney will be looking to add extra cover to his full-back options following the loss of Ethan Laird to a hip injury.
The left-footed left back would offer competition for Lee Buchanan and add the depth to the squad needed to account for further injuries this season.
